To identify: what you need to know - Internet - 2022

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become an essential part of running a website, but all the information and buzz about it often makes it a lot more complicated than it really is. In fact, although SEO is quite simple, it can have a powerful impact on website traffic.

Reasons for SEO

Search engines provide an important service to the web. They allow us to quickly find relevant information in response to our questions, and they do it fast. This feature means fewer people are visiting sites they trust or prefer to find the content they want. Instead, users search for content across the web, and land wherever search engines take them. This means that site traffic is coming through search engines faster, such as bookmarking or clicking from the home page. If you have a website, you need SEO to ensure that you are getting the search engine traffic that you need to be. Fortunately, SEO is relatively simple. Seo Ying and Yang

There are two basic types of SEO: black hat and white hat. Black hat is the dark side of SEO, where a webmaster uses link farming, hidden text and other controversial methods. White hat SEO, in contrast, simply involves consolidating key areas of a website to help search engines determine the type and quality of content on the page.

Anatomy of White Hat SEO

How search engines work is an open question. There are some factors that we know are important - and then many more factors than we think are important, but it's not certain. There are many factors about which we are not aware. Search engines maintain this level of secrecy to prevent people from gaming them with black hat SEO.

There are a few key factors in the search engine ranking of a web page that we know/think to make a significant difference:

Good content for search engines takes care of this. They want to deliver the best content for a particular query, so if you have informative and useful content, a lot of aspects of SEO come into place.

Inbound Links

When another website chooses to link to one of your content, it is viewed as a positive thing by search engines. Essentially, that website is telling its users that there is something on your site worth checking out. It matters even more if the linked text is accurate. For example, getting a link to a "great article" isn't as important as a link to an "article explaining SEO".

Trustworthy inbound links

Not all inbound links are created equal. Each website creates a profile of itself which is an aggregation of its content. A site like www.nytimes.com has a high trust factor, so a link to the New York Times on your site is a huge boost. The New York Times found it to be producing high-quality content and earning inbound links, social media "likes", and so on.

Site links

Although perhaps not as important as inbound links, links within your site help define your content rather than waiting for inbound links to do so. For example, this article will appear on Techopedia as a related link on the SEO Terms. Indicates that a) the article is related to SEO and b) the words presenting it as a link are related to SEO.

links Providing external links to content related to your content on other sites also provides relational data that can help search engines figure out what your content is about. For example, if a piece of content contains three outbound links, all of which lead to sites that publish DIY home repair material, the article is probably about DIY appliance repair.

Social media

When search engines see that your content is being tweeted, liked or otherwise shared, it works in a similar way to inbound links – it represents a testimonial to the quality of your content. (Learn more about Social Media Understanding Social Media: What You Need to Know

Traditional keywords - which can be filled in in the background of the page - are virtually dead. What seems to work now is naturally including keywords in the content and then highlighting their importance. So, instead of freezing the subtitles, you can convert them to secondary headers (h2 and h3 tags in HTML). But it also means that you can sacrifice cleverness in favor of being clear – SEO will work better as ying and yang SEO types: White Hat SEO vs Black Hat SEO. That said, part of using SEO properly is not overdoing it.

We have focused on SEO of a particular content, but SEO also happens at the domain level. Beyond that, there's a lot more to the social media side of SEO that we haven't covered here. There are other technical areas that we haven't covered here. However, the main thing to remember is that SEO is not that complicated. It's basically a list of little things that you can control and improve with some effort. The bottom line in SEO is that when you have great content that a search engine can recognize as such, everything else will click into place.
